The Role

This role is a remote role, based anywhere in the Nordics or the UK. Although remote, you are very welcome to work from any of our offices as often as you would like/as often as suits you.

As part of Azets’ long-term growth strategy to significantly increase revenue and operational performance, this role plays a key part in shaping the Group’s future. Azets is focused on becoming a recognised leader in applying Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve client services, increase internal efficiency, and support sustainable business growth.

The Group Head of Automation & AI will guide the strategic development and delivery of Automation and AI across Azets. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in AI, machine learning, and automation technologies, alongside strong collaboration, planning and commercial insight.

Key Accountabilities

• Strategic Direction: Shape and deliver the organisation’s automation and AI strategy in line with overall business objectives.

• Innovation: Explore and evaluate ways in which Automation and AI can address business challenges and support creative problem-solving. Prioritise initiatives based on value to clients, feasibility and alignment with Group goals.

• Governance: Implement a clear governance framework for automation programmes, engaging colleagues from IT, business units, and Risk & Compliance.

• Centre of Excellence (CoE): Establish a CoE to set standards, define best practices and support technology and partner selection. Develop an operating model that supports both centralised and distributed delivery across the business.

• Technology and Integration: Support the deployment of automation technologies that are scalable, secure and able to integrate across systems. Define clear criteria for selecting automation tools, such as RPA, AI, and workflow platforms.

• Security: Ensure strong security controls across Automation and AI projects — including access protocols, encryption, and credential management.

• Programme Delivery: Manage and support the delivery of Automation and AI projects to agreed quality, cost and time measures — centrally and within business units.

• Team Development: Build and support a diverse, inclusive team of automation and AI specialists across geographies. Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, Operations, Finance, Growth, and other business units to ensure integration and value realisation across the Group.

• Monitoring and Impact: Develop a consistent approach to measure performance, with transparent KPIs and metrics to demonstrate outcomes.

• Adoption and Engagement: Drive engagement with Automation and AI across the organisation. Design and implement training and development pathways. Work with Communications to share updates, celebrate success stories, and increase awareness.

• Continuous Improvement: Keep up to date with developments in Automation and AI to ensure Azets remains responsive to opportunities and emerging trends.

Skills & Experience

Education:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field.

Experience:

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in AI, machine learning and automation, with 5 or more years in a strategic leadership capacity.

Technical Capabilities:

• Strong understanding of AI frameworks, automation tools and programming environments.

People Skills:

• Experience enabling and supporting diverse teams, with an inclusive and empathetic leadership style.

Communication:

• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and appropriately to a range of audiences.

Problem-Solving:

• Strong analytical thinking and a track record of applying AI to solve real-world business problems.
• Experience in a relevant sector or comparable business environment.
• Professional certifications in AI, machine learning, or programme delivery (e.g., project management).
• Understanding of data protection and information security requirements.
