Artificial Intelligence Researcher
Job Description
We're Hiring: Research Scientist, Machine Learning for Protein Design
We're a VC-backed, early-stage startup using advanced ML to engineer carbon-negative polymers through synthetic biology and enzymatic synthesis. Our mission spans climate tech, industrial biotech, and off-world manufacturing. We're building foundational models to unlock the next generation of molecular design.
We’re looking for recently graduated PhD-level researchers with strong AI/ML fundamentals to help design, test, and develop novel technologies in high-throughput enzymatic functionalization.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and test in-house protein foundation models
- Work with large, messy biological datasets
- Collaborate closely with lab teams to optimize protein outputs
- Contribute deep technical code and ideas—this is not a “prompt engineering” role
- Move fast, break things, and fix them
What You’ll Bring:
- PhD in CS, ML, Applied Math, or similar (or an exceptional MS)
- Publications in top-tier ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.)
- Experience with unstructured data (e.g., proteins, EMG, video, etc.)
- Strong grasp of ML fundamentals and excellent coding ability
- A bias toward action and independent research initiative
- Grit, adaptability, and a desire to solve hard, meaningful problems
We’re building something ambitious. If you're deeply technical, mission-driven, and want your work to matter—reach out.
