ABOUT TOUCHSTONE IQ
Touchstone IQ is a rapidly growing software and services company serving government agencies, the private building sector, and utility providers across North America. We build cutting-edge solutions that help organizations comply with building performance standards and achieve their sustainability goals, and we take that work seriously.
We are a tight, deliberate team. We build for the long term, invest in the right people, and believe the companies that define the next decade in this space will be the ones that pair deep domain expertise with genuine technological leverage. We are hiring a Director of AI Enablement to help us do exactly that.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a rare role — one that sits at the center of both what we build and how we work. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have a mandate spanning two equally important dimensions. At its core, this role will lead our product and organization AI strategy.
The first is our product. TIQ’s SaaS platforms are used by governments, building owners, and utility providers to manage regulatory obligations (namely energy benchmarking and building performance standards), and there is meaningful opportunity to make AI native to that experience. Not as a feature bolted on top, but as a fundamental part of how the platform thinks, assists, and delivers value to customers. You will work closely with our software development and product teams to drive that vision into production. You will earn their trust by doing, not purely advising.
The second is our organization. TIQ’s AI investment is tied directly to business outcomes that matter — doing more with less, raising the bar on everything we produce, and staying ahead in a market that is moving fast. TIQ teams across the organization have already surfaced meaningful AI opportunities. Your job is to help make them real, whether through independent building or cross-functional collaboration, while bringing the prioritization frameworks, best practices, delivery timelines, and success measures that turn ideas into sustained capability.
This role was explicitly created to own TIQ’s AI learning agenda and sustain the organizational momentum we’ve begun to build. We want someone who can hit the ground running, not spend the first quarter evaluating tooling. This is not an advisory role. You will be expected to build, teach, govern, and lead by example.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Platform AI Integration
• Partner with company leadership and software development to identify where AI can be embedded natively into TIQ’s SaaS platforms, improving user experience, automating regulatory compliance activities, surfacing insights and analytics, and reducing manual work for clients
• Lead AI feature development, including prompt engineering, LLM API integration, agentic workflow design, and hands-on coding alongside the dev team
• Maintain a forward-looking perspective on AI capabilities relevant to the energy regulatory space, translating what is possible into what is practical and shippable for TIQ’s platform
• Define quality standards, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails for AI features that ship to customers
• Help unlock the full value of TIQ’s proprietary building and regulatory database, identifying where it creates durable product differentiation and new opportunities for customer intelligence
Engineering Team AI Excellence
• Work closely alongside the Director of Software Development to drive AI adoption within the software engineering team, building expectations, identifying training needs, and ensuring the dev team is using AI tools to meaningfully improve delivery speed, volume, and code quality
• Champion AI-assisted development practices within the engineering org, helping the team stay current and adopt best practices as the tooling evolves
• Build accountability mechanisms that make AI excellence a standard part of how the engineering team works, not an optional add-on
Organizational AI Enablement
• Drive the operationalization of TIQ’s AI roadmap, taking a pipeline of identified use cases from concept to production through independent building, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined program management
• Conduct structured workflow audits across functions, identifying where AI can collapse steps, reduce cycle time, or eliminate manual operations entirely
• Embed directly with business, program, and operations teams to design solutions and drive measurable adoption
• Establish the prioritization frameworks, delivery timelines, and success measures that bring accountability to TIQ’s AI investments
• Identify teams or functions where adoption is lagging and develop targeted intervention strategies: additional training, tooling, or workflow redesign as appropriate
• Design and deliver role-specific AI training and enablement sessions: practical, workflow-grounded capability building for each function, not generic AI literacy content
• Partner with HR to embed AI fluency expectations into hiring profiles, onboarding, and performance frameworks, ensuring AI excellence becomes a durable organizational standard, not just a training initiative
AI Governance & Tooling
• Co-lead TIQ’s AI governance function alongside company leadership, defining responsible use policy, data handling standards, and the operating rhythm for how AI decisions get made across the organization, in alignment with TIQ’s SOC 2 certification
• Own TIQ’s internal AI tool stack: evaluate, recommend, and maintain the tools we use across the company, ensuring they are best-in-class and appropriately governed
• Track and report both AI adoption metrics and realized business value to company leadership — surfacing not just what is being used, but what it is delivering
Culture & Change
• Be the most visible, credible, and accessible AI practitioner in the company — the person every team knows they can come to with an AI question or idea
• Model what AI excellence looks like in practice, generating organizational pull rather than relying on top-down mandate
• Help TIQ build the Centers of Excellence, AI Champions program, and shared practices that sustain momentum well beyond initial adoption
• Help TIQ develop a genuine competitive advantage through AI, in how we serve clients and in how we operate
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
• Senior or director-level experience — You have operated with real organizational authority, led cross-functional work and teams at scale. Delivered measurable results in a senior role that expected you to own outcomes — not just contribute to them
• 7+ years of software development experience — You have written code professionally and can do so again when it matters — this is non-negotiable for credibility with our engineering team
• 2+ years building with LLM APIs — Hands-on experience building with Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar; You have shipped AI-powered features or workflows in production environments
• Cross-functional influence — Demonstrated ability to drive meaningful change across teams without relying on direct authority; You lead by doing and by building trust
• Modern AI tooling fluency — Strong grasp of agentic frameworks, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and automation platforms; You can evaluate new tools quickly and make confident recommendations
• Communication range — Equally comfortable writing a technical spec, running a workshop with a non-technical team, and presenting to the CEO
• Outcome orientation — You define success before you start and hold yourself accountable to results, not activity
Preferred
• Claude Code and Anthropic API familiarity — You have built with these tools and understand their strengths in production workflows
• Laravel or PHP framework experience — An existing familiarity with this framework accelerates your ability to contribute alongside the dev team
• Regulated industry experience — Energy, utilities, financial services, healthcare, or similar — where compliance and data sensitivity shape what is possible
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation
Base Salary: $145,000 – $165,000, depending on experience
Bonus: Annual – performance-based
Full benefits package per Touchstone IQ standard template.
